A couple of years ago, KetoSports introduced KetoCaNa – a supplement positioned to beat the very best ketogenic offerings on the market (such as Pruvit’s Keto OS and Perfect Keto). Well, in this KetoCaNa review, you’ll find out that the company almost succeeded in achieving their goal.
KetoCaNa has remained among the top dietary sources of Beta Hydroxybutyrate (BHB), mainly due to having an impressive composition. However, several noticeable downsides prevent it from sitting at the top of the keto-supplement hierarchy.
About The Brand
KetoCaNa is a powdered energy drink marketed towards men and women who are on a ketogenic diet. Since it comes in powder form, it needs to be mixed with cold water (eight ounces) – and it can be taken thrice daily.
The product doesn’t contain preservatives, artificial flavor and coloring, animal byproducts, gluten, and lactose (making it similar to KetoForce). It’s also devoid of carbohydrates, meaning it’s a convenient choice for those closely monitoring their carbohydrate intake.
KetoCaNa contains BHB, calcium, citric acid, natural flavors, and stevia.
- Beta Hydroxybutyrate (BHB) is a ketone body, meaning it can help you produce energy in the absence of glucose. Of course, having sufficient supplies of ketone bodies is necessary if you want to do heavy workouts while on a low glucose diet.
- As we all know, calcium keeps bones strong. Interestingly, it’s also needed by the muscles, heart, and nerves for them to function properly.
- Citric Acid is used as a mineral supplement and acid regulator. It improves renal health, revitalizes the skin, and enhances mineral absorption.
- Natural Flavors are mostly derived from plant sources. While not much safer than their artificial counterparts, natural flavors are generally chosen by manufacturers that focus on quality.
- Stevia is a plant-sourced sugar substitute that doesn’t affect blood glucose. It’s healthier compared to the ordinary sugar, which has been linked to obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
We’d like to point out that unlike KetoSports’ other product, KetoForce, this one doesn’t contain sodium and potassium salts. KetoCaNa has sodium and calcium salts – so instead of limiting calcium excretion (an effect of potassium), the supplement works by increasing calcium intake.
KetoCaNa, when consumed before exercise, could reduce the body’s oxygen demand. Don’t forget that the process of energy conversion in the muscles requires oxygen – and without enough oxygen, lactic acid will begin to build up.
As you know, lactic acid creates a burning sensation, effectively limiting the duration you can continue working out. Now, by cutting your oxygen needs, you potentially increase your capacity to handle strenuous activities.
This can also prevent glycogen depletion by the increased availability of BHB, which serves as a suitable energy source – sparing the glycogen in your muscles from being converted into glucose.
In relation to that, the ketone supplement makes it easier for the body to transition into a ketogenic state. Once the body is under this state, fatigue shouldn’t be much of an issue since ketone metabolism takes center stage – allowing the body to tap into the fatty acid super fuel.
Exogenous ketones (in this case, BHB) will also help you in losing weight. Of course, you’ll still have to strictly follow a keto diet (or a high-fat diet, possibly with MCT oil) if you wish to reach your weight loss goals as quickly as possible.
If you’re working on boosting your testosterone as well, KetoCaNa might be able to help you further. Getting an additional supply of ketones should make it easier to maintain ketosis – and as experts have discovered, staying under ketosis significantly increases testosterone levels.
The supplement doesn’t merely offer physique-enhancing effects. Using body fat and exogenous ketones as the main source of energy may improve mental acuity –benefiting even those with mild cognitive impairment due to a pre-existing medical condition (Alzheimer disease).
How To Use
KetoCaNa should be mixed with eight ounces of cold water. Be sure to stir thoroughly to get the best results.
A dose of KetoCaNa stays in your body for up to three hours. If you are following a ketogenic diet (or a low-carb diet), it would be ideal to take the supplement fifteen minutes before working out.
Don’t forget that even if your body isn’t in ketosis, taking more than three doses daily might prove to be unsafe.
There’s no denying that KetoCaNa is impressive and could very well benefit those aiming to undergo nutritional ketosis. Despite that, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that the supplement comes with several downsides.
Even though the supplement is supposed to have a “natural orange” flavor, it doesn’t taste like a typical powdered juice drink. It also has an unpleasant aftertaste that tends to linger for up to a minute, making the experience even more unpleasant.
There’s also the chance of suffering from side effects such as gassiness, indigestion, stomach upset, diarrhea, and strong attacks of nausea. This is probably enough reason for some to seek another way of increasing their blood ketone level.
While not necessarily a downside, it should be pointed out that KetoSports’ offering won’t be the cheapest thing you’ll find on any product shelf. This is somewhat justified by the supplement’s composition, given that it doesn’t contain anything synthetically made or animal sourced.
What’s the bottom line in this KetoCaNa review? If you’re willing to overlook the supplement’s downsides and you’re searching for something naturally made, this powdered energy drink made for keto enthusiasts might just fit the bill.
