Hi Bob!

Here is my weight loss experience. Between 2003-2008, I gave birth to three precious boys. During those times, I was gaining weight on and off due to my pregnancies. When I moved to Minneapolis, I started running, but had some bad eating habits. I decided to run a half marathon to set a goal for myself. I trained alone and didn’t do any strength training. I ran my first half marathon in September of 2009. I finished at 2 hours and 22 minutes. I was losing very little weight and assumed I could eat what I wanted since I was running. I decided to join Weight Watchers in January of 2010. WW helped me focus on eating healthy and provided accountability. I started watching, “The Biggest Loser, ” and was motivated by it. I decided to try the BL Workout DVDS. I discovered that I really liked Bob’s approach on fitness and health. I continued to do the BL DVDS and looked for ones led by Bob. My first Bob Harper DVD was the, ” Inside Out Method/Strength Training.” It was at first very challenging and I didn’t finish the session. After a week of perseverance, I could keep up with the video.

My running partner and I decided to run a half-marathon. I kept doing the strength training DVDS and my friend noticed I was faster! She would tell me, “Those Bob videos must be working!” It motivated me even more since my friend was skinnier and taller! Then we ran our half marathon in September 2010. I finished at 2 hours, 10 minutes faster than my friend. I sincerely believe that the strength training DVD made my stronger and faster. I combined the strength training with my running during the week. After the marathon, I bought the Cardio DVD. It’s a challenging workout but very worthwhile. Since working out with the Bob Harper DVDS, I see how Bob wants every movement to have purpose. This year, I’m running my first full marathon and will continue to use these DVDS to make me stronger. I have lost 28 pounds and it has been a slow process, but I’ve kept it off. This is the first time in my life, where I have felt that I can push myself and feel confident that I can do anything! Since doing the DVDS, I feel like Bob Harper is my real trainer.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Verna

Before & After

MY Thoughts – Last Night’s Biggest Loser

So after watching last night’s episode, the main thing that came to my mind and what I was left with is that The Biggest Loser House is a really tough house and it is definitely not for everyone. It broke my heart that Dan & Don couldn’t make it in the house because they really needed to be there and could have gotten so much from the experience. Here is the deal. Jillian & I push people harder than they have ever been pushed because we want them to remember this experience and we want their defenses down so they can take a real hard look at their lives, what is broken, and what is not working. Hundreds of thousands of people try to get on our show every season and the casting people saw something in Dan & Don. I really do hope that they find what it is that they are looking for but they were not going to find it at the Ranch. I said it on the show that if Don would have stayed any longer it could have an adverse affect on his journey so leaving was the best thing for him. Let’s see at the finale how he does. Fingers crossed because I do want what’s best for him.

Now onto the rest of the show. I was so proud of our team for only having a limited amount of time with us to pull such great numbers. These guys work so hard and the scale really showed that. At one point Arthur said that you have to continue to push harder than you did the day before or you could go home and I totally agree with him. You can never get comfortable in our house because everyone is moving forward at such a fast pace that you could easily get left behind. What did you think of the Challenge? I don’t like when there are Challenges that target people. It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth and just seems so petty. I really don’t know what you learn from doing anything like that but oh well.

It never gets old watching Biggest Loser. I love seeing what the editors come up with to put together an episode. You have no idea how much you are not seeing. It looks like people just work out a little and achieve great results. If you only knew the mental and physical strength required from a Biggest Loser Contestant. That is why our house has the ability to change you for the better if you allow for it and come in willing to do anything and everything that is required of you but, like I said in the beginning, our house is not for everyone.
