Bob Harper
Challenge for a MONTH
The Challenge is to go an entire MONTH without soda. Are you strong enough?
I am a little late in the game and just found Bob’s site
Familiar with Biggest Loser but can’t wait to read your book too! I have about 6 diet pops a week when I am craving something sweet and this is a good a reason as any to not drink pop
I am so ready for this one
Starting now
Are you kidding? I just signed up and you probably created the most difficult challenge for me for the first month!? I have given up soda during my three pregnancies, but that was it. I love soda and try to turn to soda (diet) rather than sugary foods. I will have to think about this one…..
Are you serious? Even diet soda?
I’m doing great on this challenge! Actually,.. I started this January 1, 2010! In the beginning it was a little bit tough for me (even though I was not a serious soda drinker), but I’m doing fine now. Just water (from my Brita) with lemons picked from my own tree. Even my dogs get water from the Brita in the house!
Namaskar.
I’ve been pop free going on 7 months this month. Woo Hoo!!! I can really feel the difference and I’ve lost weight too.
Great challenge,.. been doing good on this one since January 1! Even my dogs get filtered Brita water in their bowls!
Todays my one month of no soda! I found your website while watching the biggest loser! thank you for helping and changing peoples lives! God Bless!

I’ll take you up on this challenge! Too bad, I do not like tea…
I can do it! Too bad I do not like tea…
viewed biggest loser two weeks ago, there was challenge where the contestants rode a stationery bicycle to meet a 22 mile goal. There was a contestant weighing in at 397 pounds who finished the challenge. If this individual displayed the determination to complete this task, then abstaining from drinking soda is an attainable goal. A healthy and tasty substitute is lemon juice water and honey or stevia. This acts as a diuretic and it tastes excellent. I am currently 309 lbs, and if abstaining from soda helps me to reach my goal of 185 then bye bye soda.
onboard, i have been viewing the biggest loser and have observed how some of the extremely overweight contestants have been achieving their goals. They are motivated and determined, which plays a key role in losing and maintaining weight loss. I am currently 309 lbs, and if abstaining from sodas aids in attaining my weight loss goals, then I am willing to bid adieu to the sugary concoction. A healthier alternative is lemon/lime juice with water and honey or stevia(truvia). This acts as a diuretic and it is very tasty.
I have fone 2 1/2 months without soda.
I started my year without soda. after 11 weeks I caved in and had a Coke. I used to drink at least 3 (20 oz) a day. after that one it seemed not to matter and have had a few (5 or 6) since. thanks for the challenge. learning to like water is an odd idea at 50 years old.
Wow. For me that is sooo hard because I have drank Pepsi since I was younger. One – Two a day, But I know I can definitely do it for my health.
I’ve been trying to give up my addiction to Diet Coke. It has been 2 weeks since I’ve had one and I’m starting to lose the need. I got sick and I haven’t been able to workout, so I”m hoping after I get over mono I will be able to get up and at it again.
I’m in! I cut the soda out two weeks ago and started a food journal. I have already dropped 10 pounds. 50 more to go!
I’m in….cut out the soda 2 weeks ago and added a food journal. Have already dropped 10 pounds. 50 more to go!
thats very easy 4 me im on board
This is not a problem at all. I do not drink soda. I stopped drinking it when I was expecting my first baby in 1995 and have not started back up. I may have an occasional drink when I have an upset stomach but it really does not taste good to me. I do drink alot of water on a daily basis, probably .5 to a full gallon a day, is this enough?
Bob,
This is not a problem for me. I gave up soda when I was expecting my first baby in 1995 and have not started up again. I will have the occasional cup when I have an upset stomach, but it really does not even taste good to me.
I do however drink a lot of water, or at least I think I do. I probably drink anywhere from .5 to a full gallon a day. Is this enough?
Wow…what a challenge. I actually gave up Mountain Dew a year ago on January 3rd. So it’s been a little over a year and I don’t know it’s still hard. I think I replaced it with Pepsi, cuz I try to quit and I always end up caving. I want to give it up or at least not feel “controlled” by it. This is something I want to try, even though I am a little late..cuz it’s already April 9th just about.
I have been without soda since Monday night with only one mishap at lunch yesterday. I drink diet but I drink alot of it. I am hoping to complete this challange without anymore mishaps.
I stopped drinking soda after dinner on Monday. I have only had one mishap. Out of habbit I orders a coke with my lunch yesterday. I hope to finish this challange without another mishap.
bob! I don’t drink sodas. Only water and tea with splenda. I am new to your site and need another challenge for the weekend. I am a couch potato, walk from car to door and over eat. I need help getting motivated to change my lifestyle. Thanks!
i am up for the challenge, I drink about 2 Diet soda cans a day and will do this as I am trying to shed 57 pounds that do not belong on me… starting a bit late but i need to start NOW!!!!

I am up for this Challenge, I drink 2 diet sodas a day and I am ready for Change , Thanks BOB for having this Blog. I’m starting late on this challenge but that’s okay . this will help me to continue loosing the 57 ponds that don’t belong to me .
WEEK ONE DOWN….NOT A THING!!!
I’m 21 now but when I was in high school I use to drink 6-12 sodas each day but im so happy to say that I’ve gone 2.5 years without a soda. =D
No soda? That is easy…I have only drank 2 20oz bottles in the past 3 months… Now, if the challenge were to give up coffee, that would definitely be a problem! LOL
dear bob
i love watching you on the biggest loser
u inspire me so much but i have let myself go i had lost 40lbs and i gained most of it back. im trying now to lose it again. I have not had any soda in two years.
Day 14 and still no soda. By the time the month is over, I won’t want soda at all.
I gave up soda 3 years ago!! YAH I pass!!
I am not sure about this. I have been doing tea alot. (green that is)
NOT SO SURE ABOUT IT, BUT WILL TRY. BEEN DOING GREEN TEA AND I REALLY LIKE.
I gave up sodas years ago. Now I can’t stand the taste, even the diet ones. Just water, filtered at home, unfiltered elsewhere.
I quit drinking soda in March of 2009, and have not looked back since! I had been drinking between 1-6 cans of soda per day for 25+ years, so this was definitely a change for me. I’ll say this…it might seem really hard to anyone who has been drinking soda for any significant length of time. I know that the very thought of it seems intimidating. But it is actually very easy…
A few months after I quit, I took a drink of the same soda I had once consumed so much of, and I hated it! It made me feel like I was going to throw up right there on the spot!
And I haven’t even mentioned the weight loss I got to experience from quitting soda
Woohoo!! I don’t drink soda!! My problem is Chocolate!
Ha! I totally made that my goal (water and green tea only!) today before I checked out the challenges. I’ve gone 2 months before! Hoping to get rid of it for good:)
Cheers
Sarah
So hard……I have been drinking at least one cola a day for so long. Last year I ended up with kidney stones and did really well with drinking more water and lemon or lime juice. But, it’s my caffine and when I find myself tired or stressed, I reach for a pepsi….it’s become the drink that gives me what coffee gives others, my quick burst of energy.
I’m running about 3-4.5 miles every other day now and know that I shouldn’t drink the stuff….wonder why I can’t drop the few pounds that I’m trying to…but, still struggle with giving it up. Am I the only one who is really that bad??
YES, I am
To go an entire month w/o soda would be the easiest challenge I have ever taken on… That is one habit I never started. I do not drink soda.. it alwasy made me thirstier. When I endulge myself in a good jack an coke.. that is the only time I have a soda and even that is usually on new years ..
I love challenges like this one.. haha
Yes I can! (I hope) LOL
I def think I can do this since I went without drinking soda for a year. However just this past Christmas, I started having 1-2 a week. I will stop again!
i can attempt this i think i can prolly do this…..
This is EASY for me !!! I never drink soda!!!!
This is easy, I do not drink soda!!!!
I just found this site myself. But I’ve been working on losing weight since 2-18-2010 and I’ve stopped drinking pop on that date. At first it was hard. But now I don’t even miss it.I’ve lost 38 lbs in 8 weeks. The ONLY thing I drink now is water.:-)
I gave up soda (or as we call it here, pop) a while back. It’s not that bad actually. I occasionally (because I work at a fast food resturant) have what I call a guilt soda. It’s a diet, but we all know there is no such thing as a diet soda. It’s still bad, but I always drinking water immdiately afterwards. Tea, water, skim milk, and lemonade. That’s it for me!
