kimmerJun 17, 2010

40 is a LOT! I have to drink Metamucil. :-)

jstoreyJun 24, 2010

This one is easy for me too! 40 is about my minimum everyday.

amynabbottJun 24, 2010

LILODESA I am not doctor, but I think any kind of fiber would work whether it be metamusil or natural. There are lots of veggies with fiber in it. I would say yes but not 100%. Beans are a good source of fiber too not sure how they will affect diabetics though?????? I just registered today as Jillian wants us to pay and I have always leaned more towards Bob anyway LOL. Now if I would just incorporate exercise lol. Started eating right yesterday. OH LIL I am taking cinnamon and ginger I hear they help diabetics not sure if it would help your type though??? Good luck on your journey and God Bless.

jlmarlowJul 7, 2010

Hello to all! I have hit my loest point emotionally and physically. I lost my mom in April, and although I know she is in a much better place, I miss her so badly that some days I can’t think of anything else but her. I have gained weight that I cannot afford since her death. I am already in the morbidly obese catagory. I am hoping to find support and information here that I need desperately!

lourdesortizJul 13, 2010

Hi everybody, I just signed in today I like running, I am stuck in 150 lbs and even when I am running every day I can’t loose more weight, does anybody have any advice?

LoreleiJul 14, 2010

@lourdesortiz- Are you fueling your workouts? If not your body will go into starvation mode and your weight won’t budge:)

DFenderJul 15, 2010

Hi Everyone! I too just joined today! I would love for Bob to come to Ohio (Cleveland/Warren/Youngstown area)I would definitely go see him. I have lost 55 lbs thus far. I had Uterine Cancer in December which was definitely my lowest point. My cancer was partially caused due to my obesity. I have since joined a gym, started eating right, and walk/run daily as well. I too pray for help, I feel that going through what I went through helped me realize that it is no longer a choice for me to lose weight, that it is a life saving must. I have at least 75 to 100 more pounds to lose and would love someone to help guide me along my journey. I would love, love, love, to workout with Bob at least once. I think that the Biggest Loser (Bob)has inspired a lot of people. Thanks Bob for all that you do to help people like myself and thanks for this Free website.

bubba095Jul 15, 2010

Hi, I am a young girl, who just wants to fit in with all of her friends…I am way ove my wieght limit…and need to lose about 150 pounds…is there any advice that you can give me to help me lose this weight…and still fee lgood about myself?

Thank you!

weezieschollarJul 18, 2010

bubba095 – give yourself a pat on the back for taking the first step to a healthier lifestyle. One step at a time and make a workout part of your daily activity a priority. Do what you can and increase it every couple of weeks. If you start to become bored, change up the routine. I’ve started running, and never thought I could do it. I am running a mile each time, and my goal is add some distance every couple of weeks. Small steps. Good luck, you can do it!

LeeJul 21, 2010

Too much fiber! 25 – 30 grams each day is enough for a normal person. 40 grams will make it hard for the body to absorb nutrients from the food before it rushes out the back end! If you aren’t used to eating much fiber for the love of god DO NOT eat that much on the first day. Work into it or take a good book to the bathroom!

GataGirlJul 24, 2010

Hello Ya’ll,

jlmarlow, My mama died 4+ yrs ago and losing her is definately the worst think I’ve ever had to cope with. I know that I don’t know exactly how you feel but I have an idea.

Every since her death, I’ve been getting the family together for her b-day and cooking the dish she would usually make at Easter. I’m not quite sure if I’m going to do it this year. If I do, I may try to make a healthier version of it.

She had diabetes, high blood pressure, and most likely lung cancer (there was a mass but she was too weak to have the test run).

I am @ 35 lbs (+/-) and I have decided that the best way to honor her would be to lose weight and make sure I start to live a healthier lifestyle as well as try to encourage my sister to do the same.

@ the fiber… I’m going to try to eat more whole wheat, oatmeal, beans, fruit, and veggies. Veggies are the hard one… I don’t eat many but I will still try to increase the amount of the ones I do eat and maybe sneak in the ones I don’t.

Today, we ate blueberry pancakes made with 1c whole wheat flour and 1c. AP flour. Next time I may increase the WW flour. The night before, I made Oatmeal Lentil cookies with dried cranberries and blueberrries. I didn’t have enough oatmeal but they weren’t bad. In both recipes, I substituted applesauce for 1/2 of the butter/oil it called for.

I’m looking forward to providing and recieving encouragement and motivation.

SicsaemJul 25, 2010

This will be easy for me, as I eat a lot of fiber rich foods like whole grain bread, fresh fruits, vegetables, and almonds.

anywh000Aug 1, 2010

I just signed up and am hoping to get some good help here. I was told by my doc yesterday that I should eliminate my carb intake. umm…. that is easier said than done. I love POTATOES, BREAD, WHITE RICE, PASTA!!! I bought 20 lbs of brown rice and bunch of fruite and vegies. I am already having CARB WITHDRAWS. How much carb does brown rice have?… so many questions on how to combine food together so it helps my metabolism and especially how to kick this CRAVING for carb?

JenAug 25, 2010

I’ve enjoying Carb Check bagels for a couple of years. They’re 150 calories, 18/19 gms of fiber, low fat and yummy. I tend to toast them a bit more as they are a bit chewie with all that fiber! jlmarlow, I lost my mom in February of this year. I work out to deal with many things including her loss. It takes the place of destructive behavior. Having said that, I know how hard it is. A day at a time!

aliciapcollinsSep 19, 2010

Home Cooked Chili: In slow cooker for 3-4 hours
1pound ex-lean beef, 4 chop celery stalks, 1 chop med. onion, 3 teasp. chili powder, 2 teasp. cumin, 1/4 teasp. oregano, 1/4 teasp. cinnamon, 1 small can of tomatoe sauce, 2 cans of diced tomatoes. Last hour of cooking add 1 chop small/med. green bell pepper, 1 can of navy beans, 1 can of black beans, 1 can of red kidney beans. (rinse the beans before you add to the mix)

oxxevettexxoSep 23, 2010

Wow! 40g is a lot of fiber! I’m eating cracked oats with dried blueberries for breakfast (thinking that would be half my fiber intake for the day) and it’s only 6g fiber! Better bust out the Benefiber!

joiceOct 4, 2010

hello everyone. first of all I am not Joice. I am her husband, Robert. I just thought I would get on here and give you all a little background on my wife. Last June we had a family reunion and my wife saw all of her brothers and sisters for the first in ages, They were all very overweight as was Joice. After the reunion Joice was very depressed about the way she looked and felt being around all the other “fat” relatives. Something clicked inside of her and she obsessed with the idea of loosing weight and becoming healthy again. One night while watching The Biggest Looser she said “if only I could have Bob show me how to do it right” So i went down to the store a got her some of the DVD’s, and a set of hand weights. The rest is history. Since June she has lost 55 pounds. She keeps track of her calorie intake and does the routines on the DVD’s twice a day and goes to the gym twice a week for a total workout. She wants to lose another 40 pounds before christmas so she can “show off” to the rest of the family. With Bob’s help and motivation I am sure she will make it. Thanks Bob, you are the best.

Kate FitzgeraldOct 5, 2010

Hi Everybody, I was hurt on the job this past January and my back was injured pretty bad. My question is this:What are the best exercises for a lower back injury? I have been doing some stretches/exercises in the a.m. Then I go to the gym(which i know is helping me because I lost all my muscle tone while i was out of work), before my injury i was a very strong woman(not a bodybuilder or anything like it), muscular that is. While i am at the gym i walk on the treadmill, use different types of workout machines then use the stationary bike(all for a total of 1 hour)and then i’m done(I do that every other day). I would like to know what exercises i can do without injuring myself again, i want to get better and i’m trying to eat right but i’m doing it for myself and nobody else because i’m just tired of the way i look. Thanks for your inputs!!

KitateresaOct 14, 2010

Hi, everyone just wanted to say that for those with Diabetes type 2, you might want to read about glycemic index diet. Great alternative to keep glucose level in check. I have been on the diet and has definitely helped me and have lost 12lb in the process :)

businessofmomOct 19, 2010

I’m in love with Steel Cut Oats for breakfast. I drizzle just a little bit of honey on the top and call it good. I don’t feel guilty about eating it because i know how much fiber I’m getting. Sometimes I’ll add some strawberries or other fruits to it. It’s chewy as opposed to the old fashioned rolled oats. I always think that I’m burning calories with all the chewing that I’m doing! lol.

dktyrrellOct 20, 2010

Hi Everyone,

I am new on here. I am just starting to learn how to eat right. My problem is, I have a bum knee and when I walk on it just right it “twinges”. I can not walk on it for a long time, cuz then it feels as if I am walking on a stump. So I would like to know what other kind of exercises can I do inplace of running or walking for a long period of time.

FueledproNov 2, 2010

Done! 50g aday every day.
Bob if you do not have a medical condition like being diabetic or something that you can not eat fruit or veggies and you take a fiber supplement isn’t that cheating? I mean if you just do not want it eat that stuff because you do not like it. What’s next no exercise because you do not like that ether.

dteagueNov 6, 2010

dktyrrell, you can swim, or use an eliptical machine. Because of it’s “fly” movement, there isn’t any pressure on your joints like walking on the concrete. Also, have you considered taking a glucsomine supplement?

diane25Nov 15, 2010

Hi I just joined the site and I’m glad that I’ve joined and hopefully I can get started on the right track. I’ve been exercising but not eating right. I know how Bob shows people how to eat right on the biggest loser and hopefully this site can help me eat right so I can get on track to losing weight. I will definitely try out the 40 grams a day challenge. Thanks for the challenge and I am definitely up for it.

MariaDec 15, 2010

Have been veggie over 30 years and vegan for over a decade and never have had any issue with fiber. Even if you eat bread, if it is whole grain or Ezikiel, it should have lots of fiber. Eat stuff in their natural packages. I also do lots of raw snacky foods like flax crackers with nut cheese. You can put raw nuts with miso, lemon juice, or probiotics in the food processor and add some water to make nut cheese. Just google raw nut cheeses and a ton will show up. Nuts have lots of fiber, and if they are raw, they don’t have the added oils. Key is having snacky food always by your side so IF you do binge, then you binge on healthier stuff. For the person with diabetes, check out Gabriel Cousens “There is a cure to Diabetes”. There is also an amazing video “Raw for 30″ or something like that, where he takes severely diabetic people ( type 1 included) and puts them on a raw diet for a month. It will bring tears to your eyes that this isn’t mainstream. How many lives have been lost because there is no major company pushing this type of eating? Countless mothers, fathers, and children.

I’m a vegetarian so having 40 grams of fiber is kinda easy. Matria, thanks for the advice. I am pretty new to being a vegetarian, very helpful.

lostbuffalotra@yahoo.comJan 2, 2011

Wow, I thought the 40 fiber challenge would be easy. But after counting my fiber intake today I found out that I am only intaking about 25 grams of fiber a day. I’ll have to change that!

rhondamcJan 6, 2011

I just joined this week and having a hard time getting in 40 grams of fiber. i don’t know how many grams of fiber does apples have. I have lost a total of 27 pounds in the last year by just walking an hour everyday. now i am stuck at 157. I started jogging in the mornings to change it up.

krich0420Jan 22, 2011

40g … I better stay close to the bathroom! But if Bob says “40″ …I’ll consume 40.

lauryn432Jan 26, 2011

GG Bran CrispbreadFeb 4, 2011

You can add our crackers to your daily diet to add lots of fiber. All you would need to eat to reach 40g of fiber is 8 GG Bran crackers.
