Okay so I just read this week's Time Magazine and the cover story was entitled, “Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin” and all I can say is STOP PUTTING SUCH MISINFORMATION OUT THERE!!!!  Aren't we as Americans so tired of all these “studies” that tell us that this is bad for you now and that is good for you now.  I understand that we are ever evolving and, yes, things do change but to put something like that on the cover of Time Magazine infuriates me.  When I read the article and the writer talked about how his wife and her running group were complaining about not losing any weight, the real reason is that they were going to Starbucks afterwards and making UNHEALTHY choices.  The idea that people out there want to “reward” themselves for going to the gym by eating “crap” just tells me that they have not made the full connection yet when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle.  Nutrition is extremely important when it comes to losing weight but you can never discount the ENDLESS benefits of moving your body around and exercising.  In my work with my contestants on the Biggest Loser, when you combine eating right with working out not only do you achieve great weight loss, but conditions like high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol just to name a few, become more manageable.  Not only that but people who exercise are happier also and sleep better.  Exercise is a crucial piece of the healthy puzzle that we are all trying to piece together so PLEASE do not take away from that misguided article that you shouldn't workout or what's the point, because it is important and when you do workout just remember to make the wise choice when it comes to your food and stay away from those fatty, sugary and salty foods.  I beg you to make the FULL connection to living a healthy life. Boy, I'm still burning up about that article…..can you tell..xoxox

It is unbelievable just how uneducated people can be about weight loss and diet. I've yet to master it myself, but I know that to go for a run and then go to starbucks is a no no. Their drinks alone have so many calories. They may taste good, but they certainly are not good for you. I used to drink some of their frappacinos until I realized how many calories they are. Right now, I've resorted to drinking water and at the most one glass of juice a day. I did not realize that coffee and tea could actually dehydrate you. I'm learning so much.

I appreciate that you consistently preach diet and excerise. It's encouraging to be constantly reminded of the basics. I get so tired of fad diets, exercise routines that promise great results for little effort, and magic foods that will heal us all from the effects of crappy diet choices and laziness. I'm over businesses that makes billions of dollars by selling ideas and products that just aren't legit. While it would be great if there were a magic key out there, the reality is that there isn't. And there won't ever be. People like you who stick to the facts are so refreshing. Thank you.

I know exactly how you feel Bob! I'm a nutrition major and there are SO many articles out there about fads related to nutrition and they just flat out aren't true. It makes me sooo mad! How can you expect people to eat healthy and exercise when there are articles telling you lies? Plus people tend to hear what they want to and there's not much you can do about it. For example if an article says “dark chocolate contains antioxidants,” some people read that as “snicker's bars are good for you.” There's just so much wrong information :(

Im totally guilty of rewarding myself with food! Not necessarily in a bad way because its not terriblely unhealthy choices. Like say I want 1/2 of ice cream..well I save it til the weekend..and if I worked really hard all week..I will eat it..if I didnt..then I guess Im out of luck because Im not getting it then! Ice Cream is a HUGE downfall for me..so I would rather work toward that 1/2 cup then just binge one day and eat a ton of it. But its terrible how some people reward themselves with like what Bob said..Starbucks..or a bag of chips or something like that. Thats not going to get you anywhere..but a little isn't going to hurt..as long as its not the “crap” he's talking about. If you have the self control to do it..its a good thing! =)

@ Wendy's Comment: I completely agree. I LOVE the Biggest Loser, but I was disappointed with all of the foul language last night as well.

@ beana's Comment: I agree that SparkPeople is an awesome site… but you dont have to come and spam all over Bob's site to get your point across… as a new member of Bob's site and a 4 yr member of SP I have to say that this was in very bad taste… you're making Bob's page look bad with so many repetative posts and you're making SP look bad as well making it seem like some kind of uncredited site that's looking for trafic.
