Fitness Deconstructed: Importance of Hydration
hi bob.
i love water. I drink lots. BUT when exercising long hours, example a 35 mile hilly bike ride-on a comfort bike, on a sunny day. I don’t want to have to stop and find a bathroom. I used to mix GAtorade 50/50 w/water and sip it every 15 min. Now if find it has HFCS. yuck. Someone told me nuuns. REading about nuuns says they turn to benzene in your system & could cause cancer. -even worse than HFCS. THen another person says cytromax. What do you think?
For short exercise 1-2 hours water is fine..I try to do an hour a day (actually it turns out a min of 4 days a week) then on weekends I wear my athletic hubby right out. Last Sat we took that 35 mile bike ride.. then went kayaking after our showers and dinner.
Love tbl..
thanks..
cynthia
Bob,
Are these videos for beginners? They look a little extreme like the P90X.
Thanks
Denyse
I drink water like a BEAST!!
I ♥ YOU Bob!!
CYNTHIA,I’m in marathon training and eat a clean diet so I understand how challenging it can be to find electrolyte replacements that aren’t chock full of chemicals and syrups so I make my own for a fraction of the price
1/4 tsp sea salt( don’t use table salt
1/4 tsp baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
1/2 cup orange juice
1 Tbsp honey
1 liter water
lemon juice to taste (if desired–just for flavor)
I still mix this as a 50/50 with water when I run!
Good evening Bob! I love water too! I can drink at least 1 litre a day depends on what I am doing and if I am exercising it will be more. I am trying to use my recyclable bottles as they will keep my water cooler longer and are better for the environment. I feel like I am doing a promo from BL!
Next thing for me to do is get a Brita water filter. That way my water is nice and cold from the frig.
Love the website and I love what you are doing on BL. Keep up the amazing job.
