Cookie Diet

So I read this article when it first came out and whenever I see people talking about “quick fixes” it gives me reason to be concerned.  I don’t understand how you eat cookies to lose weight and what kind of message it gives.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a cookie just as much as the next person but is that all I want to eat to lose weight… NO WAY!!   pechenushki
I think by now you know what I think about “diets” like this.  I want you to read this and tell me what you think. Weigh in on the positive and negatives about this.  I’m very excited to hear what YOU have to say.

Your right Bob there are no “quick fixes” when it comes to losing weight, hard work and dedication is all you need!

The cookie diet is very bad for your system. From what I understand of it. It cuts down your calorie intake severely, which can result in other health issues.

Just remember the weight didn’t come on overnight. And its not coming off overnight either

I love a good cookie, but I just might faint from looking at all that sugar! And how would you ever have the energy to work out after eating only cookies? I need to drink some milk and brush my teeth now! :)

Sugar (I know not all) is pretty much evil. I find it hard to believe anyone can lose weight while consuming that much sugar.

I think I’d feel nauseated if all I ate were cookies, much as I do love a good cookie. you know what they say about too much of a good thing. ;)

This frustrates me to no end. The cookie diet is just like meal replacement bars, in my opinion. They process these foods and then add back in minerals and vitamins to give the appearance of a viable meal substitute. What happens when you step away from the “cookie” jar? I imagine you could ask anyone who has done the milkshake diet (aka Slimfast) that although it may be a quick fix, its not a way to live your life.

I can not believe in this day and age people still fall for this crud. The word diet should be outlawed/banned/boycotted. DIETS DON’T WORK. It has to be a lifestyle change, and who wants to eat only cookies for the rest of their life?

I love cookies, but I think that just eating cookies would definitely do some harm after only a short time.

It is simply another “magic pill”. We tend to want fast fixes so we can do what we want then use the magic pill and wham, we are fixed. Never mind that solid maintaining of weight loss and health requires behavioral changes. We tend to be a society of addicts and want what we want when we want it. So we do things like the cookie diet and when that fails seek the next thing instead of like my Brother in Law’s cookie jar says “Step away from the cookie jar”. Somehow if I do X then I get Y gets lost in the “Oh go ahead and do X but use the [fill in the blank] diet and you can have Y” Not in this reality. You have to do the work to get the result. And honestly, eating healthy can actually be taste filled a fun and workouts can be fun too. But most don’t give it a chance.

I once tried the cookies that Apex fitness offers. Felt so sick after having just one. I think if you’re going to have a cookie, treat yourself to Ms Fields on a Friday afternoon and just enjoy it.

I thought this was amusing when I scrolled by. I go to a gym four times a week for training sessions, and as I was speaking with my trainer & waiting for my workout sheet to print (she’s leaving me for Mississippi), I saw them display these cookies under some sort of title as Fit-something, or whatnot. They are supposed to be this great source of protein. I’m a cookie fan (raisin & oatmeal), but they’re so high in calories & fat that I can’t go overboard. I thought that these might just be good for that extra protein, less fat & fewer carbs, right? Wrong! 200 Calories, 12G of fat! 26G of carbs, and only 4G of protein. Really, I could just have a regular cookie. Then I looked at another protein bar that was labeled as caramel, nuget, nut chunks (like a Snickers). Same thing! I could eat a Snickers for 50 calories more! It’s insane how some of these “fit/protein/diet” companies are doing this to people making them think they’re not cheating, or eating less healthy! I went to our local Asian Supermarket and stocked up on raw veggies and a new protein/whole grain rice they had. I’ll have to see how good it is with all the legumes in it!!

I recently read that someone lost weight eating exactly 1600 calories a day of Twinkies and doing a moderate level of exercise. There’s a big problem with the entire outlook here. Losing weight is good, there’s no doubt about that, but being thin does not equal being healthy. What’s the point of eating only 1600 calories of junk when you could be eating food that enriches your life and general wellbeing?
