Okay, I'm having the best time getting everyone motivated to do these challenges on facebook and I really want to bring everyone over here so we can all do them on this page so PLEASE get the word out to all of your friends on myspace and facebook to join mytrainerbob.  I have been thinking of ways to help as many people as I can and I thought the challenges would be good for those of you who are like myself, task oriented and it seems to be catching on.  Some days the challenges will be physical like today, walking 5,000 EXTRA steps and other days they will be nutritional and other days it will be motivational.  Basically it will be a whole bunch of ideas.  Did you realize the average person puts in about 2,500 steps in one mile and people are always looking for the escalators or elevators.  I want people to get their bodies moving more and what better way to do it then by parking your car a little further away from your destination.  There was a friend on facebook named Clare that told me she parked a half a mile from her destination!!!  That is amazing!  I'm so proud of her.  I know that all of you can make the same commitment and what is going to be the most important thing about this…...keeping it going!!!  I know that it gets tiring and boring at times but we all have to remember, this is a lifestyle change and sometimes we just have to have that mentality of, I just have to get this done today and that is OKAY!!!!  Trust me, I have those same days where I just say to myself, let me get this done so I can go on with the rest of my day.  So it is fine to have those thoughts but as long as there is follow-through and commitment.  Remember, I'm here committed to you and I need you to be committed to me.  Don't think that everything is going to change in one day.  It takes time and guess what, right now all we have is time.  I love talking about this and doing this and we are all in this together.  Let's get everyone involved and let's get as many people in America to do these challenges.  Together we can all make a difference.

Wanted to share an article I wrote with you regarding getting a family started on a healthy lifestyle…

It is time for families to unite in a whole different way.  Gone are the days of “do as I say, not as I do”.  Since working on The Biggest Loser for several years now, I have had the opportunity to travel all over the country and meet thousands of people and the problem with obesity in America has reached staggering heights.  One thing I have seen all too often is the children following in their parents' footsteps.  I have had countless overweight mothers and fathers ask me with valid concern about their children's weight gains and sedentary lifestyles.  When I ask the parents about their own issues what I always get is that the parents try to tell their kids to eat healthier, but the parents aren't following their own advice so the kids are even that more reluctant to do so.  Families have to all get on board and help each other out when it comes to making such a drastic lifestyle change, but I cannot stress this next point enough, you have got to start out small with the changes because if you decide to change everything all at once, you are setting yourself up for failure.
The first thing to do is have a family meeting and discuss the changes that will be happening.  Getting it all out in the open without holding anything back will set up a good foundation.  Communication is key because when everyone in the family has a voice in this matter, the more real and lasting changes will happen.  Sit down together and start thinking about the “no brainer foods” that will become obsolete in the house such as sugary cereals, soda, high processed snacks like chips, cookies, crackers and ice cream.  That is a great start because with these foods there is nothing of nutritional value and they are all full of empty calories.  Replace those foods with low sugar cereals, oatmeal, diet soda (if you must),  pretzels, all natural cookies (for a treat) and frozen yogurt.  Once you spend a couple of days with simple changes like this your taste buds will change and very quickly you won't even notice a difference.  Stock up the house with plenty of fruits and vegetables and stick with lean meats like extra lean ground beef, turkey & chicken breasts, egg whites and plenty of fish.  Tofu is also a great source of protein but you might need a little time before incorporating that into your diet, but I highly recommend a more plant based diet.  The foods are high in fiber and very nutrient dense.  These foods will also keep you fuller, longer.  The key is to slowly incorporate these foods into your meal plans but I can't stress it enough, get your fruits and vegetables into your daily routine.  You and your whole family will eventually thank me for it when your body weight changes and your cholesterol drops!!!
When it comes to working out what I would tell you is that the main thing you need to do is get active.  Set up a family outing on the weekends where you go to the beach, find a hiking trail, join a softball league or try something really ambitious like rock climbing or karate classes.  Find a yoga class or spin class in your town and try it out.  I'm sure these activities will be fun and, at times, funny, but what is really important is that you are changing your routine.  Getting away from the computer, the television, and off the sofa and enjoying life.  That is what it is all about.  Getting the family involved and having fun and CHANGING YOUR ROUTINE.  When your family gets together and makes an effort to this whole new lifestyle, you will add a whole new dimension to your family unit so why not start today and have your family meeting…...your whole new life is waiting for you.

So I shot a Honda commercial last Friday and it was so cool.  At first I had to do all this running through the canyon and at one point they strapped a camera onto my body which was a little awkward but it is gonna look really cool.  Finally the rest of the day was devoted to driving the hybrid which was a really cool car.  They had attached this major device onto the car with a camera on it to get these really cool shots of me driving the car and then finally it was an evening shot of me on top of Mulholland Drive with the view of downtown LA and me leaning up against the car.  It was a really fun day but I was exhausted.  Saturday was my spin class and Crunch in West Hollywood which I have been doing for years.  I absolutely love teaching that class.  Everyone works so hard.  We get CRAZY in that class.  If you are ever in Los Angeles on a weekend come and take the class.  It is at 10:30am and I will guaranty that you will get worked out!!!  The rest of the weekend was devoted to working out and then hanging out with my goddaughter Coco.  She is the coolest person I have ever met.  She cracks me up and really keeps me in check.  I will post some new pictures of her soon so you all can see her.  She is amazing, smart and hilarious.

Now on to other matters.  I have started putting little simple tips on my facebook page which I will then transition onto mytrainerbob because what I have decided is that people need motivation and that is my job, to keep you motivated so what I want to start doing is just give you a little tip that you can think about as you go through your day and just keep your “head in the game”.  Some tips might work for you and others won't but what is important for you to know is that I'm here for you and I'm thinking about what I can do to get you motivated and keep you motivated.  I want us to work together.  Today's tip was try a group fitness class at your gym today if you have access to a gym.  I love group fitness because I think that “misery loves company” hahaha!!  Seriously, it keeps me going to be in a class where there are other people doing exactly what I'm doing at the time.  Like I mentioned earlier, I love teaching my spin class but I also love taking spin classes.  I like getting in there with really loud music, sweaty dark room and just zone out and be left in a pool of sweat.  It keeps me going.  So try something different this week and try taking that class that you thought you would NEVER do for whatever reason.  If anything you could get a really good laugh and laughter really is the best medicine.

Have a great rest of your day and I will talk soon..
