Hey everyone.  How are you all doing with getting enough fiber into your diet?  It’s important to eat enough fiber because it promotes health and helps reduce the risk for some chronic diseases. It prevents constipation, hemorrhoids and diverticulosis. Fiber is also linked to preventing cancer, and it can help lower bad cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.  Fiber can also help lower blood sugar, which helps to manage diabetes.

There are two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble.

Soluble fiber slows digestion, lowers LDL cholesterol, and regulates blood sugar.  You can find it in foods like oatmeal, oat bran, nuts and seeds, beans, fruits like apples, pears, strawberries, and blueberries, and some vegetables.

Insoluble fiber speeds the passage of food through your stomach and intestines and helps remove toxic waste.  It can be found in whole wheat products, whole grains, brown rice, dark leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini.

Good morning everyone.  It is Monday morning and it is very quiet in Los Angeles after The Oscar's, like it is every year.  I thought the award show was GREAT!!!!!  Hugh Jackman did a great job and I there was no real surprise but I was annoyed that my best friend Cristi won the money pool at my party with the most predicted wins of the night.  She beat me by 1…...DAMN!!!!  HAHA!  Okay, let's talk about what we can do differently this week when it comes to our fitness lifestyle.  My first question is, did you have a good and healthy breakfast this morning?  I hope so.  Remember do include a good complex carbohydrate like oatmeal, whole grain bread or a low sugar cereal these choices also have a good serving of fiber.  I want your first step today to be look for foods that have a good source of fiber.  The average person gets about 10 grams of fiber a day and it is recommended that you have about 25 grams.  So lets start looking for FIBER!!!  I want you to pick up some NO SALT cans of black beans, or any other kind of beans, plenty of green leafy vegetables (frozen is fine and CHEAP), fruits, nuts are good but watch your portions, brown rice, yams.  So start reading those nutrition facts and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, get your fiber in your kitchen and in your BODY!!!!!

Happy Oscar Day!!!  I always love watching the Oscar's.  One of my favorite days of the year!!  What are you going to eat watching the show tonight?  Here are a couple of healthy options:

Air Popped Popcorn.  Try putting popcorn seeds, about 1/2 cup in a brown paper lunch bag in the microwave for about 4 minutes.  You will get a big bowl of popcorn with virtually no fat and about 250 calories.  Spray a little “i can't believe it's not butter” spray and club soda and you have a great and crunchy snack.  Also, hummus and raw veggies are a good snack.  Fruit bowl.  low fat cheese sticks.  baked “no salt” chips and all natural salsa.  These are some of my snack choices.  Enjoy watching tonight and I will speak to you soon and PLEASE don't over indulge.  Remember, we are getting back on track!!!!!

Okay MyTrainerBob, it has been WAY TOO LONG!!!  I'm so sorry but I have been crazy busy with the show and traveling for work that I haven't had a moment but let me fill you in on what's going on…..
GET READY because in the next episode you are gonna see me break down.  It was a really tough situation that we all got put in for the show and without giving away too much…..everything changes and I do not take it well at all.  I will talk more about it after we air the upcoming episode.  It has been a very emotional journey this season but tomorrow is our last day of shooting and I gotta tell you, I'm ready to wrap this season.  We have been shooting for almost 5 months and it has been emotional and exhausting and I'm ready for my vacation.  I'm going to Paris, France, one of my favorite places in the world and I'm going to go to museums, eat at great restaurants, and do a bike tour of Paris…...basically I'm gonna do everything I can and mainly RELAX!!
I had a fun night the other night, I went to a party that was honoring Gwyneth Paltrow and Courtney Cox.  It was a beautiful party and you will never believe who came out and performed…... Beyonce!!!  I was dying!  I'm in love with her and she was fantastic.  It was so much fun.  Then on Wednesday night I had to shoot a spot for “The Soup” with Joel McHale.  I got an award for the Best Smackdown.  When it was time for me to get up and accept my award, the producers wanted me to start yelling at Joel so in rehearsals I was kind of reserved and they kept saying to me, “let him have it like you did Joelle”.  Well when you see it, which is going to be on Friday Night, tonight on “E” at 10pm….....I definitely let him have it.  It was hilarious!!!!  I love Joel.  He is so funny and so tall.  He made me look short on camera and I'm 6 feet tall!!!!  Anyway, it was a lot of fun so let me know what you thought.
I want to start doing video blogs next week because it will be kind of fun to be able to talk to you guys, because I want to know mainly how your new year's resolutions are holding up.  Please don't tell me that you have fallen off the wagon but if you have, that's OK because you can absolutely get yourself back on track.  Remember you committed to making a LIFESTYLE change and you have your whole life to keep yourself motivated and I'm gonna be here for you every step of the way.  I'm so glad that we have mytrainerbob.com to support eachother and help eachother.  We are a community of people that want to not only make a change for ourselves but for eachother.  That is what it is all about, helping yourself and paying it forward.  Let us all recommit to making a change and most of all a difference.  We are living in changing times and there is struggle but there is also HOPE.  We can do anything that we put our minds to…...let us join our forces and make a positive difference!!!!!
