Hi! I would like to know more about protein bars and drinks. How much protein is enough and can you get too much. Some days I just don’t feel like eating my egg whites for breakfast or I don’t have time. Thanks.

Hey Bob! I REALLY need some help! I have been having some trouble with my kidneys. Now my doctor told me I need to restrict my intake of protein, sodium, calcium, and oxylate. In doing some research, that limits me to…um…water??? I am not sure what I can even eat any more. I am trying to lose weight and have lost 80 pounds so far. However, now I am not sure what to do. Any thoughts of where I can go for some help. I need to get my lab values back in check, and soon! Thank you for all you do for us! You truly are a blessing!

snertygerty August 31, 2010 at 2:29 am

Where can I find help on what to eat? I am on a restricted diet. I am supposed to restrict my intake of sodium(easy), protein, calcium, and oxylate. What does that leave me to eat that is healthy?

Christi August 31, 2010 at 2:52 am

Awesome! That’s all that can be said! You’re dedication to your fans is obvious, and worthy of great respect! You rock, Bob!

Hi Bob,
I have had two shoulders replaced and two repairs at the base of each thumb. (Reconstructed from Arthritis.) I also have had a new knee replacement which is now failing me.
I have never been overweight in my entire life. I have always worked out so I would NOT get arthritis. How can I do a cardio when I cannot use my arms, Biceps are ok. I cannot run, or use more then 45 lbs on the right leg. I am gaining and need that right need repaired. HELP.
I have gained 25 lbs in 4 years. It is still climbing. I am NOT an emotional eater. I eat a lot of cereal. It’s not easy to cook for one;with a bad right hand on top of it.
Thanks Bob! I am only 53 years old…………….=(

Another sub for mayo in tuna salad is Ranch dressing. Low cal/fat dressing is good, since it is flavorful so you don’t need as much as mayo. Also another good thing for tuna is capers and ranch together makes a great tuna salad.

Hey Bob.
I graduated from APSU in the spring of 2010. I heard that you went to The Peay back in the day. That makes us fellow APSU Alumni. I am assuming you majored in HHP. Have you ever thought about returning to APSU to teach or at least hold health clinics at your alma mater? The campus would love to have you. Our campus has grown a lot and has new state of the art fitness centers you would be proud of. I guess my question is would you be willing to come and visit your school and help make Austin Peay the most fit campus in the United States.

Hi Bob~~
Cuirrently weigh 211 LBS. and are 5’7″-5’9″ I still weigh 211LBS. which is what I weighed the last time I went to the doctor last summer for an ear infection from swimming in my friend’s neighbor’s backyard pool.
Love these Question and Answer videos. Can you give me some advice. I have all 8 biggest loser DVD’S that have come out plus 4 original Tae-Bo, 2 Advanced and 8 minute workout from Get-Ripped Series, Focus on abs/glutes and Ultimate Butt VHS Tapes, and 1 Firm VHS-working out with dumbells. I also have two pair dumbells 3lbs. and 5lbs., heavy weight resistant cord, exercise ball, and a step workout bench with dvd but can never motivate myself to use them. I only exercise I usually do is to walk with my friend around a trail near her house which takes us 1 1/2 hours to walk; start and end at her house. I never run, and riding my bike I am usually tired by the time I get to her house which is only 5 blocks, so I usually drive there every time I go there.

Another bad thing is I work for the McDonalds in Channahon, IL 4 days a week, and usually eat there for lunch or dinner 3-4 days of a week. I usually eat 10 peice nugget and 1 mcdouble only red onion, med fry and use 2 ranch cups, or I eat 2 mcdoubles only red onion med fry and I always drink diet coke. Sometimes I might order two ranch wraps grilled which contain ranch sauce, a little shredded lettuce/cheddar jack cheese or a grilled club meal which I order as ranch sauce insyead of mayo(hate mayo)/shredded lettuce, swiss cheese, and 2 full strips bacon.
We always pay half price whether we are working or not. Any suggestions on what to eat when I go there. I love to go there almost every day.

I have gained tremendous muscle mass within the last year. Credit goes to your dvds and a few of Jillian’s. Is it normal that I would need to eat about 1800-2000 calories to sustain myself? I am 5’3″ between 118-120. 120 when I stick to 1500-1600 calories, 118 when I up my intake. I workout to my body’s max doing intensive cardio and strength training 4-5 days a week for an hour and reserve my other days for new yoga dvd. Why do I look and feel better when I over eat?

Mary September 2, 2010 at 11:43 am

Hey Bob,
I’m an RN and I know the dangers of what i’m about to ask about. I had gastric bypass surgery in 03′. I went from 359lbs to 180lbs. But, i am so worried about my weight that i go from not eating at all to purging anything i eat. I know this is unhealthy but i’m so afraid of food. How do i get over this obsession? Please give me some advice on how to live healthy and not be obsessed with every bite of food i eat.
Thanks,

Mary

How many calories do you usually burn in a high intensity 30 minute cardio workout?

soccerchick September 15, 2010 at 12:33 am

Bob,
This childhood obesity thing has really gotten out of control over the past couple of years. America needs help….especially the children. This is the first generation that the kids may not outlive their own parents. This is a crisis…. What do you think about all of this??? What do you advise others to do?

I am interested in heart monitors vs Bodybugg. I use a pedometer but was told an heart monitor would be better. What are your thoughts?

Kayla September 17, 2010 at 9:01 pm

I’ve used fat free plain yogurt before for mayo, cream cheese, and sour cream substitutes.

Hey Bob!

Is there an ideal time to workout? Morning, afternoon, night, before/after a meal?

awatchey January 20, 2011 at 4:03 pm

Today I purchased the Bob Harper Inside Out Method DVD. I am pretty excited to get it home and try it. I am 20 weeks pregnant; I did clear this with my Dr. ( the beginner workout ) and the only thing he suggested was to not go so deep in the sumo squats and the lunges. I am not new to working out..I just get bored and then I get lazy and the bad mojo keeps the negative merry go round spinning. I am hoping this time around I am able to stick with a program so I can be healthy and fit for my children. I also have a 6 year old at home who keeps me moving. I just wish I had the energy to keep up with her…even before I got pregnant again I was not able to keep up with her…again being too lazy and too tired.
I am not really motivated to work out, but I hear rumor that if I just stick with it long enough I will crave it. That is what I want..I want to crave exercise and crave that healthy lifestyle…not just wish it or read about it..obtain it and crave for more of it.
I am also not able to change my diet as much as I could if I were not pregnant..It must be a pregnancy thing but so far my diet is made up of cereal, celery, oranges, and carnation instant breakfast. I was told to avoid shakes that are marked as diet or fitness shakes because of the additives that are not good for the baby (but so far my body is only allowing certain things).
I was warned to not do any exercises that would have me lying on my back or stomach..are there any baby safe core/ab workouts that I can do?
Thank you for your help,
Angela
